October 2008: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies sponsored the Saturday evening performance of the 62nd annual Ziyara Shrine Circus at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.  Proceeds from the circus help support Shriners Hospitals for Children, providing orthopedic, burn, and spinal cord injury care free of charge for children under 18 years of age.

September 2008:  Critical Technologies Inc (CTI) led an effort to assist orphaned children in Afghanistan by collecting clothing, toys, and other necessities.  In cooperation with US Army Chief Warrant Officer Daniel L. Clark, over 200 boxes were shipped to an orphanage caring for 350 boys near Kabul, Afghanistan.  Partners in the event include the Masonic Care Community, the US Post Office, Sons of the American Legion, New Hartford Post, and others.

August 2008:  Critical Technologies attended The Erie Canal Chapter of AFCEA sponsored 4th annual "Airborne Network Technology Review Days" with participation by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) – Rome Research Site, the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and the Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC). The event was held in Utica, NY. 

The Annual Airborne Network Technology Review Days 2008 highlighted the current approaches and plans to deploy an Airborne Network. Participants had the opportunity to engage industry and government researchers and scientists to discuss their approach and solutions to the obstacles of networking airborne assets, present research demonstrations, and discuss experiments and practices.


July 2008:  Critical Technologies is pleased to support the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO 2008), held in Atlanta, GA. GECCO is the largest conference in the field of Genetic and Evolutionary Computation. Topics include: genetic algorithms, genetic programming, evolution strategies, evolutionary programming, real-world applications, learning classifier systems and other genetics based machine learning, evolvable hardware, artificial life, adaptive behavior, ant colony optimization, swarm intelligence, biological applications, evolutionary robotics, coevolution, artificial immune systems, and more.

May 2008:  Critical Technologies provided Internship opportunities for 5 students in the Spring 2008 semester.  From SUNY-IT in Utica, Sellu Koroma and Matt Anderson.  From Syracuse University, Vijay Agarwal, Bandan Das, and Nishesh Bakshi.


March 2008:  Critical Technologies participated as a host company for local students in Project SITES (Student Introduction to Engineering and Science). The project is sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Engineers Executive Council to promote engineering and science careers to students in the 8th-10th grades in Central NY. Local employers sponsor the students to show how math and science skills acquired in the classroom are used in industry and offers local students the opportunity to shadow engineering professionals for a day.  Students visiting Critical Technologies enjoyed learning about advanced networking technologies.


February 2008: Whitesboro, NY  Members of the CTI team attended the 58th annual Engineers' Week Awards Banquet held at Hart's Hill Inn. The event is sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Engineers Executive Council (MVEEC). Awards are presented for significant contributions involving new or innovative products or processing technologies across a host of engineering disciplines and academia.  View photos of the event HERE.


January 2008: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies has established a relationship with the CASE Center Industry Co-op Program at Syracuse University.  Several Co-op students have been brought on board at CTI for the Spring semester. Co-op allows students to combine their academic studies with professional work experience related to their major.


November 2007: Syracuse, NY  The Syracuse Technology Garden and the SU CASE Center hosted a symposium, Connecting to Graduate Level Technical Talent. Larry Ames, Business Manager of Critical Technologies, participated as a panelist to create awareness of the vast student resources at SU and provide information to employers regarding the H-1B Visa process.

October 2007: Syracuse, NY  The Syracuse Technology Roundtable is a collaborative effort between the CASE Center of Syracuse University and the Syracuse Technology Garden, offering access to the best resources of academia and industry, both regional and national. The Roundtable provides valuable opportunities to anyone interested in the growth and development of the Central New York technology economy. April 2006: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies Inc. (CTI) received notification of award of a Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) Phase I contract from the US Navy. The work will support improved adaptive remote sensor communications for undersea vehicles.

October 2005: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies Inc. (CTI) sponsored Armed Services Night during the Saturday October 8 evening performance of the 59th Annual Ziyara Shrine Circus held at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. Active members of the military were granted free admission. Color guard representing various military branches was on hand. Proceeds from the circus help support Shriners Hospitals for Children, providing orthopedic, burn, and spinal cord injury care free of charge for children under 18 years of age. August 2005: Utica, NY  Michael Joseph of Critical Technologies Inc. was recognized in the 2005 Mohawk Valley 40 Under 40, honoring professionals under the age of 40 for their accomplishments and community involvement.  An award luncheon was held at Hart's Hill Inn in Whitesboro, NY. May 5, 2005: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies Inc. (CTI) has won 1st place in the Mohawk Valley EDGE Business Plan Competition for creation of a spin-off company, Critical Communications Inc. The company seeks investment capital to commercialize technology developed for the US Navy that enhances wireless data networking, during and without connectivity.  The 1st place award includes a $10,000 prize and an additional $10,000 in in-kind services. April 2005: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies Inc. (CTI) has won 3rd place in The 2005 Henry A. Panasci Business Plan Competition at Syracuse University for creation of a spin-off company, Critical Communications Inc. The company seeks investment capital to market a technology developed for the US military that enhances wireless data networking, during and without connectivity.  The 3rd place award includes a $5,000 prize. March 2005: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies Inc. (CTI) announces participation in the Downtown Utica Wireless District (DUWD).  As a hotspot location in the City of Utica, CTI will offer free wireless Internet connectivity to company guests and site visitors.


February 2005: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies Inc. (CTI) has been awarded a subcontract modification by Northrop Grumman Information Technology, TASC. CTI will continue supporting the Information for The Mobile Warrior program at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, NY.


January 2005: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies Inc. (CTI) has received notice its application for commercialization services for the Application Traffic Controller (ATC) to The Center for Commercialization of Advanced Technology (CCAT) has been advanced to the final stage of the evaluation process.  The CCAT - supported by Congress and funded by the Department of Defense - is a public-private collaborative partnership between academia, industry, and government. Partners include San Diego State University (SDSU) Foundation and Entrepreneurial Management Center, the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Jacobs School and UCSD CONNECT, and Lockheed Martin ORINCON Technologies, Inc., with support from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego. The consortium-style CCAT intends to bridge the gap that exists between the generators of technology, the Department of Defense and the commercial marketplace, and awards $75,000 to successful awardees. CTI's presentation will be given on January 27, 2005 in San Diego, CA.


January 2005: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies Inc. (CTI) has received notice of contract modification. The modification supports additional testing of CTI's Application Traffic Controller developed for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) of the US Navy. The testing will take place at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI in February 2005.


November 2004: Rochester, NY  Critical Technologies presented 7 papers and 2 presentations at the IEEE Central New York Workshop on Communications and Networking. The papers and presentations describe work performed for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) of the US Navy in development of the Application Traffic Controller (ATC).


November 2004: Monterey, CA  Critical Technologies presented 2 papers at MILCOM 2004 for work performed in development of the Application Traffic Controller (ATC).  The annual conference centers on capabilities enabled by harnessing the power of new and emerging communications and information systems technologies.


October 2004: Las Vegas, NV   Critical Technologies participates in Red Flag. The Red Flag exercises (Oct 10-23), held periodically at the Nellis AFB since 1975, are very realistic aerial war games. The purpose is to train pilots from the U.S., NATO and other allied countries for real combat situations. Critical is supporting Northrop Grumman IT, TASC in demonstration of an advanced communications network technology, Information for Global Reach. The technology will be operated from US Air Force JSTARS aircraft.


September 2004: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies sponsored the 2nd annual Ziyara Circus Train. The train departed Utica's Union Station at 1:30pm on September 12, 2004 and supports the annual Ziyara Shrine Circus held each year in Utica. Festivities included barbeque dinners, circus clowns, and pictures with Scooby-Doo. Softdrink beverages were donated by the F.X. Matt Brewing Company, Utica, NY.


August 2004: Utica, NY  Critical Technologies Inc. (CTI) has been awarded a new subcontract by Northrop Grumman Information Technology. CTI will continue supporting the Information for The Mobile Warrior program at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, NY.


June 2004:  The Mohawk Valley has been named in the top 25 of two regional rankings; listed as a secure region and good for doing business. Inc. Magazine ranked the Mohawk Valley as 21st in best small metro region in which to do business in its March 2004 edition. In June, Farmers Insurance Group ranked the Mohawk Valley as the 24th most secure place to live in the United States.


May 2004:  Critical Technologies Inc participates in the 2004 Navy Opportunity Forum. The Forum provides an effective way to preview Navy-funded technologies developed by small businesses. Conference attendees can preview technologies and explore both partnering and investment opportunities with firms from around the country. The 2-day event showcased ninety (90) firms that have received over $750,000 of Navy funding through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program during the past two years.


March 2004:  Critical Technologies Inc hosts local students for Project SITES. March 2004:  The Department of Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded Critical Technologies a $100,000 contract under the Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) program.  The company will develop a low-cost method of providing recreational boaters with a collision avoidance product.


December 2003:  Critical Technologies Inc of Utica, NY has been awarded a contract by the Army Research Laboratory.  Under the Small Business Innovation and Research (SBIR) program, the $120,000 effort will last 6 months and provide a novel architecture for large-scale, low power sensor networks utilizing Ultra Wide Band.


September 2003:  Critical Technologies Inc made presentation before a panel of investors at the Venture BPlan Series. The monthly forum, sponsored by the Center for Economic Growth and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, is intended to expose entrepreneurs to potential investors.


September 2003:  Critical Technologies Inc of Utica, NY has been awarded a contract by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) in San Diego, California.  Under the Small Business Innovation and Research program (SBIR), the $100,000 effort will last 6 months and provide enhanced communications via Automated Link Establishment with legacy radios.
